I did the Shepardess-Garrus romance, too, and thought it was very nicely done. Unfortunately, he got killed in the Suicide Mission at the end (I probably shouldn’t have sent him through the pipe).

Joker’s lines about Garrus after you recruit him are classic – some of my favourites in the game:

“Hey, Commander, we got Garrus back! That’s great, because he was totally my favourite. With that pole up his ass.”

“It seems like Garrus has finally worked that stick out of his butt, but now he’s trying to beat guys to death with it. I can’t believe I like the old Garrus better.”

I’m currently on my second playthrough as a Male Shepard and I’m quite pleased that you can romance Tali, because I was a mite pissed off that you couldn’t romance her in the first game. I don’t know, it’s the legs that do it for me… Okay, that was probably too much information.

Hadn’t seen that thing about the romances. I can see why that would happen with the scripting to simplify the complexity of those scenes in ME2, but yeah – interesting…

The curious thing about the whole gay relationships thing is that not only is the required stuff for female Shepard/Ashley and male Shepard/Kaidan present in ME1 and reachable by modding, but if you import a savegame from ME1 modded in this way into ME2, it works just fine, apart apparently from one line of dialogue. Hmmm. Oh, and whilst you can't romance Mordin, if you trigger his safe sex lecture speech before starting a romance path with anyone else, he assumes you fancy him, and gives you a polite brush-off.

Dragon Age’s were hilariously bad. The soft singing music was fine for Alistair and Leilani, but alongside Morrigan and Zevran? Really?

Call of Cthulhu – I tried it, but it didn’t like my old PC and kept crashing. Thanks for reminding me, I’ll fire it up on my XP machine and see if helps.

Yeah, he has a rather flat delivery at times and very Canadian pronunciation of certain words (like a few of the VO people actually) which is a bit jarring at times. Still, I am quite attached to my slightly asian male Shepard now.

I do wish there had been slightly more to the romance elements, your options with Tali were basically ‘wanna fuck?’ ‘k’. I mean, there wasn’t any ‘I feel this way, you do too? I never knew’ sort of thing except a very brisk version mostly on Tali’s end. The outcome was very sweetly handled though, not like Dragon Ages slightly embaressing take (although the swelling music was nice).

Also.. glad to see the site back, did you ever get around to playing Call of Cthulhu? Or did you hate it and thus make me feel guilty for suggesting it..

If by neutral you mean brain-numbingly dull, I agree. He bordered on sounding zombielike in the first game, as if he just came back from the dentist’s.

Mordin actually had no time and my mind already moved on to the next dialogue with someone else. So it took me moment to get what he was implying.

Hale’s Shephard is more pronounced, clearer but without sounding artificial. Meer on the other hand even kinda mumbles some of his lines.
Oh and always when I read Meer I have to think about that other Meer.

I just find Meer’s version of Shepard so… neutral. Hale just sounds that much more like a character than a blank slate. I especially like how her version manages to hit all the extremes as if that was the way she was meant to be written, yet almost never clashes with the other options.

I was pretty annoyed that my “Shepardess” couldn’t get closer to any of the imo interesting characters especially Tali.
With Jacob Bioware surpassed themselves, he’s so unbelievable dull it’s almost unreal.
Though Garrus is much more interesting than in ME1 I still didn’t like him that much.
Thane is OK but not for a love affair.

Started a male Shephard but I’m not sure I can motivate myself to play him on. Jennifer Hale *sigh*

Mordin realy had some great lines. Did you get that one with the STD and a Varren (it was I think)?^^
